One of many effective braces treatments available in the market and in our orthodontic clinic, the Damon braces stands out in several ways as compared to conventional braces
The Damon braces is a self-ligating braces that uses a special type of bracket which functions like a sliding door and the archwire is allowed to move freely, compared to traditional metal braces where the wire is tightly and prominently held in place. Comfort and discreetness aside (especially with the Damon Clear), the lack of elastic ties also make it a more hygienic option.
Metal Braces are the traditional braces that we all know, as well as the most economical and common option.
In lingual braces, the brackets are glued to the back of the teeth, making them completely invisible from the front.
In ceramic braces, the brackets and wires are either clear or tooth-coloured, making them much less noticeable.
With Invisalign, a system of clear aligners are customised to fit your teeth at every stage of the treatment.
Our specialist braces clinic is led by Singapore orthodontist Dr Ang Poh Kang and we specialize in teeth straightening for children, teenagers and adults alike. Just like there are specialists in medicine (such as cardiologists, neurosurgeons etc.), there are specialists in dentistry. An orthodontist is a dentist, who, after attaining their Bachelor in Dental Surgery degree, went on to do a 2- or 3-years full-time course in orthodontics. Their work includes early interceptive treatment for children as young as 8-9 years old, braces for crowded teeth and even surgical treatment for jaw problems.
You may refer to their credentials as found on their own website, or the Singapore Dental Council’s register. If they are an orthodontist, you should see that they have been registered in the field of orthodontics, and has educational qualifications and professional memberships in orthodontics.
If you are uncomfortable with the appearance of your teeth, or if your teeth/bite is causing you speech or swallowing problems, look for an orthodontist to have the problem fixed. You will most likely require braces, and the orthodontist will be able to recommend you the most suitable one for your needs and preferences.
You are generally expected to see your orthodontist at 4-6 weeks intervals; however, this can vary greatly depending on the type of braces and the severity of the condition.
The cost of orthodontic treatment varies greatly depending on the severity of the problem, as well as the type, complexity and length of the treatment. Speak to us for more personalized information.
